Big Life Changes? Here’s How to Stay Consistent with Your Fitness Goals
Let’s be real: life never stays the same for long. New jobs, moving, school starting, travel, family changes — they all throw curveballs into your schedule.
I recently had a big schedule change in my life and my day to day schedule has completely changed. However, I have big fitness goals right now! If you don’t know yet, I am in prep for my bodybuilding show that is at the end of July. That means I have to keep checking the boxes to achieve those goals even with this schedule change!
Here’s the good news for you if you are dealing with any schedule changes too: you don’t have to abandon your fitness goals when life shifts. You just need a fresh plan.
Here’s how to stay on track when everything else is changing:
1. Find Your New Training Window
Forget what your old schedule looked like — start fresh.
Ask yourself: "When can I realistically train now?"
It might be shorter sessions, different days, or a new time of day altogether.
Remember: something is better than nothing. 3 workouts a week can still get you strong if you stay consistent and intentional. Try not to feel discouraged if what used to be you training 5x/week has now transitioned to 3x/week. You can build your schedule back up later!
2. Prep Your Meals
When your schedule gets hectic, convenience wins.
Meal prep doesn't have to be complicated — it just needs to be done.
✔️ Make a few protein-rich meals ahead of time
✔️ Keep easy-to-grab snacks on hand
✔️ Plan out a couple of go-to meals you can make in under 10 minutes
Stay ready so you don’t have to scramble when you’re tired or short on time.
3. Reassess Your Goals And Your Time Commitment
Not every season is the season for a major body recomposition or hitting new PRs — and that’s okay!
Be honest: How much time and energy do you have to commit right now?
Then match your goals to your reality.
Maybe you shift from 5 days/week training to 3 full-body workouts. Maybe you focus on maintenance instead of fat loss.
Adjusting doesn’t mean giving up — it means setting yourself up for long-term success.
BOTTOM LINE:
Adaptation > perfection.
Stay flexible, stay consistent, and remember: doing something is always better than doing nothing.
You’ve got this! Seize Your Day!
